THE JOURNEY BACK IS THE PATH FORWARD
Amazon' Prime’s documentary The Boy from Medellín sees José Álvaro Osorio Balvin and his alter ego, superstar J Balvin intersecting during a week on tour in his hometown of Medellín. To kick off the mini-campaign, I wanted to partner with a video collage artist to show the layering of these worlds colliding and bring Balvin’s vibrant energy to life. We quickly discovered visual artist Sara Serna, who was born in Balvin’s hometown and she crushed it.
Additionally, we made a series of short social edits with dynamic type to tease the themes and mini-stories of the film — The Come Up, José VS Balvin, Amigos y Familia. Subtitles were translated to both English and Spanish.
